HOLIYAY 2019 FAQ
We bet you have aaaaaall sorts of questions about our levelled up venue + market, and I'm hoping that we can answer them here!
IS IT THE SAME BRANDS ALL WEEKEND?
Yes! It will be the same brands from Friday through Sunday.
Last year we switched about 60% over and kept track of how many people came back the next day and it was less than 20.
HOW SHOULD WE GET THERE?
First off- take transit! From the major park + rides from the outskirts its a quick jaunt downtown. LRT stops at the Rideau Centre, as do a lot of bus routes. Then you don't have to worry about parking + you can enjoy the adult bevvies we have on site ;)
IF I DRIVE, WHERE SHOULD I PARK?
There is a paid parking on site (access via Colonel By or Daly ave). Other great parking in the area is at the NAC ($12 daily max, less expensive than the Shaw Centre), or City Hall is free parking and a quick walk across Confederation park (you could also enjoy a skate on the outdoor rink!). There is also street parking in Sandy Hill.
DO WE NEED TICKETS TO GET IN?
On Friday night you do, on Saturday + Sunday you don't (simply show up and it is $5 to get in, kids under 16 are free).
Friday night tickets are $15 and include a donation to mealshare (help us feed local kids in need), a cocktail, and a reusable shopping bag. and you preshop the brands before they sell out! We'll also have a live DJ, hot chocolate bar, comfort food stations (think gourmet mac & cheese) a Mavericks donut bar. Buy your tickets HERE
HOW DO VENDORS TAKE PAYMENTS?
Most vendors accepts cards (credit, and now square readers accept debit), and cash as well. There is a fully stocked ATM onsite at the Shaw Centre.
CAN I EAT & DRINK THERE?
Absolutely! A big part of our markets has always been to offer local food + drink, and a space to eat it in. We are using the ENTIRE lobby outside of the hall and turning it into a festive lounge for you to eat, drink, chill, take photos, listen to the live music... Although we couldn't bring our own food vendors in, the Shaw Centre took off their "conference hat" and stepped outside the box with us to create incredible food items for you. We will also have Big Rig on site along with Pelee Island wines, Mavericks donuts and a hot chocolate bar... we want you to have the same experiences you are used to at our indie markets.
WHAT ELSE CAN WE DO IN THE AREA?
We are in the most exciting part of the city!
Take a skate on the "Rink of Dreams" at City Hall. Don't want to bring skates? Our event partner Ruckify will have a hut on site with skates you can use!
If you're coming later in the day, take in the lights show at parliament hill.
Stroll through the historic Byward Market, or check out the lights in the park.
