Established in 1934, Gibbs Honey is produced in Eastern Ontario by fourth-generation beekeepers. 100% raw, wildflower/clover honey made only by our bees.
Albert Gibbs keeps bees on the family farm in Dalkeith to supply honey for the family.
Albert’s son Michael takes an interest and begins keeping bees and selling honey off the farm and to local stores in the area – eventually building up to 150 colonies.
Michael’s son Tim begins working with a commercial beekeeper in Kemptville. Tim starts with 180 colonies.
Tim’s brother Peter starts with 50 hives.
Tim and Peter join forces to turn Gibbs Honey into a commercial business eventually building up to 1300 colonies.
Tim and Peter’s nephew Russell puts 3 colonies on a friend’s rural property outside of Hamilton. Over the next six years he scales up to 30 colonies. Russell starts selling his honey at local farmer’s markets in Hamilton, Burlington and Toronto.
Russell and Andrea purchase a farm in Vankleek Hill.
Russell and Andrea take over the operation from Tim and Peter.
